Most people have never heard about this. Since December 2, 2025, USCIS has frozen ALL immigration benefit processing for lawful immigrants from 39 countries who are already living and working inside the United States. Green cards, work permits, citizenship applications, family petitions. Everything. Frozen indefinitely. This is not about the border. The people affected followed every rule. They paid thousands in fees. They waited years. They completed interviews, passed background checks, and in some cases were already approved. Then USCIS simply stopped issuing decisions. People who had completed every requirement for U.S. citizenship had their oath ceremonies canceled. Previously approved green cards are being reopened and reconsidered years after the fact. USCIS has collected over $1 billion in fees for cases it now refuses to decide. And in a separate policy change, USCIS now instructs its officers to treat an applicant's country of origin as a "significant negative factor" when making decisions. Even if the freeze ends, the system has been rewritten to discriminate based on where you were born. USCIS promised guidance within 90 days. That deadline passed. There is no end date. No administration in 70+ years has ever claimed the authority to do this. Federal courts are hearing challenges. LinkedIn — Professional / Workforce Impact Post
A LinkedIn post highlighting the workforce and economic impact. Great for reaching employers and professionals.
A policy that most professionals have never heard about is quietly devastating the American workforce. Since December 2025, USCIS has frozen all immigration benefit processing for lawful immigrants from 39 countries who are already living and working inside the United States. This is not about the border or new hires. These are people who have been here for years, sometimes decades, working legally. Physicians, engineers, researchers, nurses, teachers, and countless other professionals are now losing their work authorization. Not because of performance. Not because of any legal issue. Because of where they were born. Employers are being forced to terminate employees they trained and relied on for years. Hospitals are losing doctors and nurses they cannot replace. Research projects are stalling. Businesses are losing institutional knowledge that took years to build. And there is nothing the employer or the employee can do about it. It gets worse. USCIS accepted premium processing fees of thousands of dollars per application for expedited decisions, then refused to decide. The agency has collected over $1 billion in fees for cases it will not adjudicate. People who completed every requirement for U.S. citizenship had their oath ceremonies canceled. And in a separate policy change, USCIS now instructs officers to treat an applicant's country of origin as a "significant negative factor" in decisions. The system itself has been restructured to discriminate. Over 2 million applications are frozen. The agency promised guidance within 90 days. That deadline passed. There is no end date. No administration in 70+ years has ever claimed the authority to do this. Federal courts are hearing challenges. [I've seen this firsthand. / This has affected my team. / This is my story. SHARE WHAT YOU'VE WITNESSED.] If you employ, manage, or work alongside immigrants from any of the 39 affected countries, this is likely affecting people you know right now. Ask them. They may not feel safe bringing it up on their own. Learn more and take action: uscis-pause-tracker.com #PressUnpause #Immigration #Workforce #USCISPause
